LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A lawsuit over attack ads by a Washington-based group against an Arkansas Supreme Court justice running for re-election has been moved from state to federal court.
Court documents show the lawsuit by Justice Courtney Goodson against the Republican State Leadership Committee was moved Friday from Pulaski County Circuit Court to U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas.
Committee attorney John Tull moved the lawsuit that was filed Thursday. It asks for a temporary injunction to stop the committee’s ads and mailers that oppose Goodson in favor of David Sterling, her opponent in next month’s election.
In his notice, first reported by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Tull said the Republican State Leadership Committee was incorporated in Virginia and headquartered in Washington, D.C.
The committee says it’s spent $1.1 million on the race.
