CNN White House correspondent Kaitlan Collins apologized Sunday night for using “ignorant” gay slurs after seven-year-old tweets were highlighted online.

Ms. Collins posted the comments in 2011 when she was in college.

In the tweets, Ms. Collins told one friend she was uncomfortable living with a lesbian and called another friend a “f-g.”

The tweets were shared by an organization called Log Cabin Republicans, which advocates for LGBT conservatives.

CNN’s Vice President of Communications and Digital Partnerships Matt Dornic defended his colleague on Twitter.
