Designer and rapper Kanye West plans to discuss manufacturing, criminal justice reform and combating violence with President Trump and senior adviser Jared Kushner at the White House on Thursday.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed the meeting Tuesday morning.

Kanye West is coming to the White House to have lunch with President Trump and he will also meet with Jared Kushner,” she said in a statement. “Topics of discussions will include manufacturing resurgence in America, prison reform, how to prevent gang violence, and what can be done to reduce violence in Chicago.”

The New York Times first reported the meeting.

Criminal justice reform has been a project for the West family. His wife Kim Kardashian West appeared at the White House multiple times to promote the issue and plead specific cases of current convicts.

Mr. Kushner, who is focused in part on that same issue, worked alongside the reality TV star to sway the president to commute Alice Johnson’s life sentence.

Ms. Kardashian West last appeared at the White House in September for a criminal justice listening session.

Mr. West is an ardent and vocal supporter of the president. Most recently, he went viral for a pro-Trump speech at the end of a “Saturday Night Live” episode centered on his MAGA hat.
