PHOENIX (AP) - A Tempe man has been sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison for using the credit cards of deceased people.
The Arizona Attorney General’s Office says Jason Siebert-Thomas also will be on supervised probation for three years.
Tempe police say Siebert-Thomas obtained the personal information of more than 150 victims who either had medical problems or had recently died.
Family members of the deceased individuals say the 35-year-old Siebert-Thomas had no relationship to the victims.
Police say Siebert-Thomas used the credit cards to make more than $300,000 in purchases, with some of the single purchases exceeding $5,000.
He was indicted in January 2017.
Siebert-Thomas pleaded guilty to fraudulent schemes and artifices, aggravated taking the identity of another person or entity and taking the identity of another person or entity.
