The ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament is returning to the nation’s capital in 2021.

The conference will hold its annual postseason tournament at Capital One Arena that year, followed by a return to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn in 2022, it announced Thursday.

It will be Capital One Arena’s third time hosting the ACC Tournament after doing so in 2005 (as the MCI Center) and in 2016 (as the Verizon Center). It was also the site of the 2017 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Charlotte and Greensboro, North Carolina, will host the tournament in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

“The next four years of the ACC Tournament will be played in locations that are tremendously meaningful to the ACC, our players, coaches, alumni and fans,” ACC commissioner John Swofford said in a statement. “All four cities offer first class venues and hospitality for our league, and we appreciate the continued partnership with each of these outstanding communities.”

While the University of Maryland used to be an ACC school, today the closest member institution to Washington is the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. College basketball powerhouses Duke, North Carolina and Syracuse will also come to town for the tournament that week.
