President Trump allegedly has a replacement ready to fill Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat when it becomes available, Axios reported on Sunday.

The president reportedly said while he was contemplating his replacement for Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy’s seat that he had “big plans” for Circuit Judge Amy Coney Barrett.

“I’m saving her for Ginsburg,” he said, according to three sources “familiar with the president’s private comments,” Axios reported.

Ms. Barrett is a favorite among conservatives as a young, Catholic judge, but she was passed up for Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh last July because of fears her track record of abortion opposition would lead to Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska voting against her.

The question is whether Mr. Trump will get to make the replacement. Ms. Ginsburg told Politico last July that she has “at least five more years” in the high court.
