Donald Trump Jr. resurfaced a 2013 tweet from former President Barack Obama and used it to criticize Mr. Obama for claims that his administration spied on the Trump presidential campaign.
Mr. Obama posted a picture in February of 2013 of him holding a magnifying glass with the caption “I spy …”
On Thursday, the president’s eldest son resurrected the tweet, responding “Yes, it appears that you do …”
Attorney General William P. Barr said Wednesday during a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing that the Obama-led FBI did spy on President Trump’s campaign.
“I think spying did occur,” Mr. Barr told the Senate. “The question is whether it was adequately predicated.”
The attorney general later clarified when asked about the basis for his suspicions.
“OK. I am concerned about it, and I was asked about whether there was any basis for it. I believe there is a basis for my concern, but I’m not going to discuss the basis,” he said.
The president praised Mr. Barr for doing the right thing and using the word “spying” and claimed the FBI watched his campaign.
