PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A man charged with killing a jogger whose body was found stuffed in a trash barrel at a Rhode Island park nearly six years ago will be held without bail.
Michael Soares pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Thursday and was held without bail.
The 33-year-old is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 66-year-old John Fay.
Fay had gone on one of his frequent runs in Warwick City Park on May 16, 2013, when he disappeared.
His body was found the next day in a trash barrel.
Soares was recently declared competent to stand trial. His lawyer, John Canham, told The Providence Journal that he’s arranging to get information on the case and will eventually move for a bail hearing.
Soares is due back in court April 30.
