POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - A jury has found a 30-year-old Hudson Valley woman guilty of second-degree murder for the fatal shooting of her longtime boyfriend and father of her children in their Poughkeepsie apartment.

The Poughkeepsie Journal reports that a Dutchess County jury returned the verdict Friday against Nicole Addimando. During the three-week trial, she admitted shooting Christopher Grover in September 2017 but claimed it was in self-defense after years of physical and sexual abuse and torture.

Addimando faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison when she’s sentenced on May 20.

The defense said Addimando shot Grover as he slept on the couch because he had threatened to kill her and himself. Prosecutors called Addimando a “master manipulator” who concocted the story of abuse.
