PORT JEFFERSON STATION, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a 27-year-old woman has been struck and killed by a car as she was walking on a highway on Long Island.
Suffolk County Police say Kaitlin Catalano was killed just before 5:30 a.m. Saturday in Port Jefferson Station.
They say Catalano was walking on Nesconset Highway when she was hit by a car driven by 30-year-old Jacob Cindone.
Catalano was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say she was homeless. Cindone was not injured.
The death is under investigation.
