PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Authorities say a man is in custody after a car plowed into a group amid an altercation in north Philadelphia, injuring several people, one of them critically.

Police say emergency dispatchers received multiple calls shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday about a car they allege “intentionally struck a group of people due to an altercation.”

Police say a 37-year-old man was listed in critical condition with a head injury and trauma to the body. A 28-year-old man had arm injuries and a 40-year-old woman had shoulder and foot injuries. Both were in stable condition. A 17-year-old girl had hip and leg injuries and a 19-year-old woman had minor injuries.

Police said the 44-year-old driver was in custody at a hospital with head and facial injuries.
