AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine’s Democratic governor is set to deliver remarks at the groundbreaking of a new veterans home.

Gov. Janet Mills is scheduled to deliver remarks on Thursday afternoon at a ceremony in Augusta.

Her office says the $91 million residential care facility will serve 138 veterans and eligible family members. The Portland Press Herald reports the center is set to open in 2021, and will replace Maine Veterans’ Homes existing 150-bed nursing home facility.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie and Maine’s congressional delegation is also set to attend.

The governor also plans to attend a Maine Hire-A-Vet event celebrating the hiring of 286 veterans last year.
