CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Police in North Carolina have accused a man in the shooting death of a 71-year-old woman.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say in a news release that multiple charges have been filed against 50-year-old Tomka Antonio McDowell, including first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

McDowell was arrested Friday for the death of Santa Rodena Acevedo, who along with a second person were found shot inside a home on Wednesday. Acevedo was pronounced dead at the scene while the other person was hospitalized.

Police have released no additional details in the case. McDowell’s status was unknown Friday afternoon.
