WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A Florida man who was 17 years old when he fatally shot another man over a $10 marijuana debt has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.

The Palm Beach Post reports that the now-21-year-old man was sentenced Friday. He was convicted in October of first-degree murder.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says the man fatally shot 31-year-old Michael Sears inside his truck in August 2015. Prosecutors argued the man, who worked for Sears in a car-detailing business, was upset because Sears allegedly asked the man to give him more marijuana, even though he still owed him money from a previous encounter.

The man testified during his trial that Sears became aggressive with him and that he was scared for his life.
