LIVINGSTON, Mont. (AP) - Authorities say one person was killed and a sheriff’s deputy was injured in a head-on crash in southern Montana.

Park County Sheriff Brad Bichler says a vehicle crossed into the opposite lane on U.S. Highway 89 south of Livingston just before midnight Friday and crashed into the deputy’s vehicle. The deputy was flown to a hospital in Billings, and the other driver died at the scene.

Investigators have not released the names of anyone involved and say it’s unclear why the driver of the passenger vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic. The deputy’s condition has not been released.
