ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - A plea hearing has been set for a 19-year-old Virginia man charged in a triple slaying.

The Roanoke Times reports Trevor E. Charles is set to appear in court next month. Assistant prosecutor Nate Griffith says an agreement has been reached, an apparent reference to a plea deal.

Charles been jailed on murder and firearm charges since his June 2018 arrest in the slayings. The three victims worked together at a restaurant.

Authorities have said an investigation into an abandoned crashed car belonging to one of the victims led to the discovery of their bodies at an area home.

Police records say Charles admitted to shootings his “only friends” and blamed malicious voices in his head, an explanation that left prosecutors skeptical.

Charles’ attorneys weren’t immediately reached for comment.
