WAREHAM, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say a woman swimming in Massachusetts waters was taken to the hospital after with a severe injury being struck by a boat propeller.

Wareham police received a 911 call just before noon on Sunday about a woman being struck in Bourne Cove.

A Wareham Department of Natural Resources officer located the victim on shore suffering from “extensive injuries” and immediately began performing first aid to control the bleeding.



The victim was stabilized and transported to Tobey Hospital.

The operator of the vessel stayed on scene and tended to the victim’s injuries until emergency responders arrived.

Foul play is not suspected and the injury remains under investigation by the Massachusetts Environmental Police.

No names were released.
