WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a drug dealer who sold a fatal dose of heroin to a Delaware man should spend eight years in prison.
Twenty-five-year-old Rodney Cox was scheduled to appear for sentencing Monday after pleading guilty in November to conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance.
Prosecutors say Cox was unemployed and dealing drugs when he sold heroin laced with a fentanyl analog to 28-year-old Muhammad Zia of Wilmington in August 2017. Zia died that same day.
Cox’s drug supplier, Jawaan Wallace, was sentenced last week to 10 years in prison for importing heroin capsules into Delaware.
