DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Two of the five men exonerated for a brutal 1989 attack of a young woman jogging in New York City’s Central Park will speak at Duke University.
Yusef Salaam and Raymond Santana are scheduled to speak Monday in Page Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required and are available through Duke Box Office.
On Tuesday, Salaam and Santana will participate in a panel discussion at Duke Law School that’s also free and open to the public. Tickets aren’t needed.
In 2002, DNA evidence linked a convicted murderer and serial rapist to the attack. The five men known then as the Central Park Five were exonerated after spending between five and 13 years in prison.
The five are now known as the Exonerated Five.
