CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Washington Redskins linebacker Ryan Anderson was ejected from the third quarter of Sunday’s game at the Carolina Panthers for a helmet-to-helmet hit on tight end Greg Olsen.

Olsen’s body went limp and he fumbled the ball upon being hit. The referees conferred for a few minutes before announcing a 15-yard penalty and Anderson’s disqualification.

Earlier in the game, Panthers special teamer DeAndrew White laid a helmet-to-helmet hit on Redskins punt returner Trey Quinn. The play was penalized, but White was not ejected, leading some to question the consistency of the officials’ rulings.
