FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) - Two deer hunters in northeast Georgia discovered human skeletal remains in a wooded area near the Chattahoochee Bay, authorities confirmed.
The hunters found the bones on Thursday afternoon on a Flowery Branch property, Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth told news outlets.
Detectives are pursuing “good leads” that they think could help identify the body, Booth said. Authorities didn’t say how long they thought the remains had been there or if foul play is suspected.
The remains were taken to the state Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab for examination.
Flowery Branch is about 50 miles (80 kilometers) from Atlanta.
