MIAMI (AP) - Police say a 2-year-old Miami boy is in stable condition after being shot in the abdomen.
According to a Miami-Dade Police news release, a suburban hospital alerted authorities Thursday evening about a toddler suffering from a gunshot wound. A neighbor also called 911 about a man putting a toddler into a car and yelling about a shooting.
Police said the child’s father had driven him to the hospital.

According to the statement, the father initially told investigators that someone in a white vehicle driving by his Miami home had opened fire. However, investigators determined the shooting had taken place inside the home, and no drive-by shooting had occurred.
Police did not release the child’s name. No charges had been filed Friday morning.
