Maryland defensive back Darnell Savage Jr., defensive end Byron Cowart and offensive lineman Derwin Gray were invited to the NFL scouting combine.

The combine runs March 1-4 in its usual home of Indianapolis.

Savage led the Terrapins in 2018 with four interceptions, which was tied for second in the Big Ten. A starting safety for Maryland for three years, he was named second team All-Big Ten last year.

Gray, who hails from the District, was the starting left tackle for the Terrapins and helped block for one of the nation’s most dangerous rushing offenses.

Cowart is an interesting case: He was the nation’s top high school recruit in the Class of 2015 and committed to Auburn, but later left the school due to a combination of lack of playing time and a family member’s health issue. He transferred to Maryland for 2018 and led the team with three sacks.
