NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Authorities in New Jersey say one person died in a fire at a senior living apartment complex in Newark.
The Essex County prosecutor’s office says the blaze at St. Mary’s Villa apartments was reported at about 1:40 p.m. Saturday.
Newark Police Director Anthony Ambrose confirmed that one person was killed but could provide no additional details. The victim’s name hasn’t been released.
Firefighters reported no other injuries at the complex, which is made up of two five-story buildings totaling 360 units.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
