HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - Charles L. “Charlie” Walton, retired publisher of the Moundsville Daily Echo, has died. He was 78.

The West Virginia Press Association says in a statement Walton died Saturday at a health-care facility in Huntington. The statement didn’t list a cause of death.

Walton was owner and publisher of the newspaper in Moundsville from 1995 to 2014. He also had a passion for photography and worked in nearly every capacity at the newspaper.

A private internment is planned at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Huntington. The statement says Rollins Funeral Home of Kenova is assisting the family.
