FRANKLIN, Ohio (AP) - Police in Ohio say a shoplifting suspect who was leading officers on a brief chase crashed her car and died.

Franklin police say the chase began Thursday after a Walmart manager told authorities a woman left the store without paying and left in a pickup truck.

Authorities say an officer spotted the truck speeding early Thursday and began chasing it until it crashed into a tree.

The State Highway Patrol says the driver was thrown from the truck. It identified the woman who died as 40-year-old Misty Sorrell, of Springboro.

Franklin’s police chief says there will be a standard review of the pursuit, but he says it appears the department’s policy was followed.
