LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A Kentucky police officer accused of sexually abusing a teenage girl in his department’s Youth Explorer program won’t face state charges.
News outlets report that Louisville police Officer Brad Schuhmann won’t be prosecuted by the Jefferson County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
Defense attorney Logan Sims says he doesn’t know why they said Monday that they decided not to prosecute, but he’s happy with the decision. Schuhmann has denied the allegations.
Schuhmann was the fourth Louisville police officer to be accused in a lawsuit alleging child sex abuse in the program, allegations that are now under investigation by the FBI.
Sims declined to say if Schuhmann is under federal investigation. An FBI spokesman declined to comment to the Courier Journal .
Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley says Schuhmann remains on “light duty.”
