MESA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a dead body found in a Mesa mobile home has been identified as a woman who was reported missing on Jan. 14.

Mesa police announced Wednesday that the Maricopa County medical examiner positively identified the body as that of 60-year-old Valarie Fairchild.

Police say it appears Fairchild died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officers responded to the scene Tuesday evening after getting a call about suspicious activity.

Police contacted the reporting party who said there was a deceased person on the premises.

They say detectives visited the residence several times during the missing person investigation and the body was ultimately located in an obscure location.
