PROSPECT, Conn. (AP) - Police have made an arrest in connection with a botched robbery at a Connecticut used car dealership that ended with a customer fatally shooting a suspect.

Prospect police tell the Republican-American that 56-year-old Alton Sherrod Woods was arrested Tuesday in connection with the Nov. 30 robbery at Route 69 Auto Sales.

Police say Woods and 44-year-old Torrance Battle, both of Waterbury, were armed and masked when they attempted to rob the business and assaulted the owner and an employee.

Police say a customer looking to buy a car drew his legally registered firearm and shot at the men, killing Battle.

Woods faces several charges including first-degree manslaughter. He was held on $1 million bond.

His case wasn’t listed in online judicial records and it wasn’t clear if he has a lawyer.
