ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - MGM Resorts has closed on its $850 million purchase of Empire City Casino and Yonkers Raceway.

The Journal News reports the deal was finalized Tuesday after the state Gaming Commission approved the transfer of gaming and horse racing licenses from the Rooney family to MGM.

The Rooney family had owned the race track since 1972.

MGM announced the purchase agreement last May. It hasn’t yet detailed its plans to develop the 97-acre property, which currently has 5,200 video-lottery terminals.
