President Trump on Friday dared the new Democratic-led House to try to impeach him.

“How do you impeach a president who has won perhaps the greatest election of all time, done nothing wrong (no Collusion with Russia, it was the Dems that Colluded), had the most successful first two years of any president, and is the most popular Republican in party history 93%?” Mr. Trump tweeted.

The president fired off the tweet after waking up to the first full day of Democratic control of the House, where articles of impeachment have already been filed by Rep. Brad Sherman, California Democrat.

It remained to be seen whether the articles of impeachment gain traction. Mr. Sherman accused the president of obstructing justice by firing then-FBI Director James B. Comey and trying to intimidate special counsel Robert Mueller in his Russia collusion probe.

Mr. Trump also blamed Democrats for the recent turmoil on Wall Street.

“As I have stated many times, if the Democrats take over the House or Senate, there will be disruption to the Financial Markets. We won the Senate, they won the House,” he tweeted. “Things will settle down. They only want to impeach me because they know they can’t win in 2020, too much success!”
