PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The price of a gallon of gasoline in Rhode Island dropped 4 cents in the past week to its lowest level in about a year and a half.
AAA Northeast reported Monday that its weekly price survey found self-serve, regular selling for an average of $2.42 per gallon, 11 cents lower than it was a year ago, and the lowest it’s been since the summer of 2017.
Despite the drop, the Rhode Island price remains 19 cents higher per gallon than the national average.
AAA says the low prices are due to low demand as well as an oversupply of crude oil on the global market.
AAA found gas selling for as low as $2.29 per gallon and as high as $2.60 per gallon.
