JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (AP) - Police in western New York say a 19-year-old man attacked a car with a hatchet after becoming enraged at the other driver.

Police say Jacob Slade became angry after a driver turned in front of him Monday morning in Jamestown. Investigators say Slade chased after the vehicle, cut him off and then got out of his car and attacked the other vehicle with a hatchet.

Slade faces charges of felony criminal mischief and menacing. WKBW-TV reports damage to the victim’s vehicle is estimated at $1,500.

Police say Slade then fled, but the victim took a picture of his license plate.

Efforts to reach Slades’s attorney Tuesday were not successful.
