GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - A Glendale man has been arrested in the shooting deaths of his girlfriend and her young daughter after initially saying an armed prowler was responsible.
A judge on Tuesday ordered Brandon Andres Bautista Torres, who could face two counts of first-degree murder, held on a $1 million bond.
Police say he shot and killed his 19-year-old girlfriend and her 4-year-old in their home Sunday and then went to his parents’ house with his 1-year-old son. They say three hours passed before he told his family the victims had been shot.
According to charging documents, his sister called police.
Investigators say Torres said a homeless man with a gun had come into the home. But police say his story had several inconsistencies.
The judge ordered Torres to get a court-appointed attorney.
