OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - A Northern California man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for robbing an undercover federal agent at gunpoint during a sting operation.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Friday that 25-year-old James Medeiros of San Leandro was also sentenced to three years of probation after pleading guilty to pointing a gun at the undercover ATF agent during the robbery.
Prosecutors alleged that Medeiros conspired with three other young men to rob someone they lured to a building in Oakland to buy firearms from them for $8,000. The customer was an undercover ATF agent, and Medeiros was arrested leaving the scene of the robbery.
The co-conspirators also pleaded guilty to the same charge and face a minimum term of seven years in prison.
