MERIDEN, Conn. (AP) - Police are investigating a series of car fires in Meriden, Connecticut.

Fire crews responded to the first fire at 3:14 a.m. Tuesday and found three vehicles damaged.

Fire Marshal Steve Trella says it appears the fire started in a van and spread to the two cars next to it.

Trella says one woman was injured when she tried to move one of the cars that belonged to her. The woman has been hospitalized for treatment.

A second fire was reported around 3:28 a.m.

Trella says a Jeep was set on fire about a block away from the first fire.

Both the State police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit and the state Fire Marshal’s Office are assisting in the investigation.
