NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The Louisiana Republican Party’s executive director faces multiple charges in New Orleans’ municipal court following a weekend incident that took place hours after his wedding.
New Orleans news outlets report that court records state that Andrew Bautsch was asked to leave an establishment at the Pontchartrain hotel around 3 a.m. Saturday. He is accused of resisting and shoving a New Orleans Levee District police officer who was working a security detail at the hotel.
Charges against Bautsch include battery, trespass and resisting an officer.
Calls to Bautsch’s telephone were not answered. State GOP chairman Louis Gurvitch told the New Orleans Advocate that Bautsch, who is on his honeymoon, “vociferously denies” the charges and that the incident resulted from a misunderstanding.
