PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (AP) - A man accused of running a crime ring out of his home near Bremerton has been sentenced to five years in prison.
The Kitsap Sun reports 51-year-old Jesse Woods pleaded guilty and was sentenced last week for 25 counts including leading organized crime and identity theft.
Court documents say Woods directed a cabal of mail thieves and drug addicts, with one associate calling him a “puppeteer.” Investigators also found evidence of counterfeiting currency.
One person called the residence a “trap house,” slang for a drug house, and said people brought stolen goods and mail in exchange for money, drugs, a place to use drugs or a place to sleep.
