Saying he’s eagerly anticipating special counsel Robert Mueller’s forthcoming report, a personal attorney for President Trump compared the wait to that of an expectant mother.
“It’s like waiting for a baby, or maybe, it’s more like waiting for a jury. You make your case, then you have to wait days for that verdict,” Rudy Giuliani told The Washington Post.
Speculation is circulating inside Washington that Mr. Mueller’s investigation into possible collusion between Mr. Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russia has reached its end and that a final report summarizing its findings will be handed to U.S. Attorney General William P. Barr soon.
“If the report is good… I’ll give out cigars,” the former New York mayor added.
Mr. Giuliani, who served as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York in the Reagan administration, said he has no inside information into when the report will be submitted to the Justice Department.
Mr. Trump said Friday he has “no idea about the Mueller report” before heading to Mar-a-Lago for the weekend.
“Well, we’re going to see what happens,” he said. “It’s going to be very interesting, but we’ll see what happens. There was no collusion. There was no obstruction. Everybody knows it. It’s all a big hoax. I call it the witch hunt.”
