RENO, Nev. (AP) - School officials in western Nevada say they are making resources available to students who were on a bus that drove past a dead body.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports a school bus with Incline High School baseball and softball players on board was traveling on Mount Rose Highway when it came upon the police scene Tuesday.

Washoe County Sheriff’s spokesperson Bob Harmon says officers found the body of a man who had apparently killed himself.

Washoe County School District spokesperson Megan Downs says a snowbank had shielded most cars from the scene, but the school bus was tall enough that students could see.

Principal Andrew Yoximer alerted parents to the encounter, saying school officials would speak with the students on the bus and a school counselor would be made available.
