BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A Bismarck bank teller who admitted stealing thousands of dollars from her employer won’t go to jail if she stays out of trouble.
Katie Walter pleaded guilty to felony theft and possessing drug paraphernalia. South Central District Judge David Reich gave her a three-year deferred sentence. So, if Walter successfully completes probation and doesn’t commit additional crimes the charges will be dismissed.
Walter was arrested earlier this month after she told her bank manager that she had stolen money to support a heroin habit. The Bismarck Tribune says authorities suspect the 24-year-old woman embezzled about $8,000.
