The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Dotson was convicted in 2003 of murder, kidnapping, robbery and other charges in the death of Doris Blair.

He was suspected but not charged with severely beating and injuring 87-year-old Kathryn Waldman days later. Waldman died in 2003.

The newspaper says Dotson also was convicted twice in California of similar crimes, including a near-fatal beating of a 66-year-old woman in Pasadena in the 1980s.
