DECATUR, Ill. (AP) - Fire officials say a blaze at an Archer Daniels Midland Co. facility in Decatur is out after crews worked for more than six hours to extinguish it.
The Decatur Fire Department says in a Friday release that its firefighters worked with ADM employees Thursday to put out the fire at the Chicago agribusiness giant’s East Faries Parkway facility.
The (Decatur) Herald and Review reports firefighters arrived just before 11 a.m. Thursday to the ADM Feed House. The fire department says contractors who were doing maintenance work accidentally set material on fire. Fire officials say it was “difficult to reach and fully extinguish” the fire because of its location.
Officials say the fire was under control by about 5 p.m. Thursday.
