KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A Kansas City area man convicted in a massive mortgage fraud scheme more than a decade ago has been arrested again.

KCUR-FM reports that 54-year-old Brent Barber, of Peculiar, was taken into custody Thursday when he reported to his parole officer at the downtown federal courthouse. The federal government has moved to revoke his supervised released in the fraud case in part because he has been charged in Jackson County with one count of forgery. He pleaded not guilty to the charge Tuesday.

The FBI initially arrested him in 2004 in a fraud ring that used straw purchasers to buy foreclosed homes. Authorities say that after Barber was freed from prison, he forged a Kansas title when he resold a vehicle.
