Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez discussed Friday who she would support in the 2020 presidential primary, listing the qualifications she needs to make her endorsement and hinting that Bernard Sanders or Elizabeth Warren may fit the bill.
“What I’d like to see in a presidential candidate is one that has a coherent worldview, and logic, from which all these policy proposals are coming forward,” the New York Democrat said to a group of reporters. “I think Sen. Sanders has that. I also think Sen. Warren has that.”
Ms. Ocasio-Cortez said while she’s “entertaining” an endorsement, it’s “not going to be for a while.”
She also ignored a question about supporting former Vice President Joseph R. Biden.
Despite being a congressional freshman, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s endorsement will be highly coveted in the 2020 election due to her younger, more radical Democratic following.
