LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say an 8-year-old boy has been shot and killed after a homeowner and a man breaking into a South Carolina home fired their guns at each other.
Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said the man who broke into the Lexington home may have been wounded In the early Tuesday shootout.
The homeowner was wounded, but Koon said the injury didn’t appear life threatening.
The coroner’s office identified the boy killed as Mason Hanahan.
Koon said in a statement the man who broke in the home was wearing a mask and they do not have a description or name.
