AUBURN, Maine (AP) - Police say a six-hour, armed standoff in Auburn, Maine, is over.
WMTW-TV reports that the episode ended Tuesday afternoon with a man being removed from an apartment on a stretcher and a woman walking out on her own.
The Maine State Police tactical team responded when the man, who’s known to police, went into the basement of the apartment building with the woman believed to be his girlfriend. Police said the man had a number of weapons, including several rifles and handguns.
A hostage negotiating team from the Maine State Police was in contact with the man through the day. It was unclear how the standoff ended.
