ATLANTA (AP) - A man who threatened to blow up a grocery store near Atlanta is in custody after an hours-long standoff.

News outlets report authorities early Thursday evacuated the Kroger store, and surrounding shopping center, located in south DeKalb County. Police had been negotiating with the suspect since before 8 a.m.

DeKalb Police spokesman Hamilton Traylor says the suspect was arrested without injury. His name has not been released.

DeKalb police Capt. P.S. Sheirling says the man had been holding a device and standing near propane tanks at the front of the store. Police weren’t sure if the man actually had a bomb but, but Sheirling said they’re treating the situation as if it’s a “worst case scenario.”

Police also haven’t determined what, if any, connection the man has to the store.
