WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) - Colby College graduates are getting some pop culture sprinkled in with their pomp and circumstance.

TV writer and producer David Kelley, who’s responsible for Ally McBeal, Chicago Hope, Boston Legal and Big Little Lies, is delivering the commencement address on Sunday.

In addition to Kelley, who grew up in Waterville, several others also will be honored at the commencement: Mary Bonauto, legal director from GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders; philanthropists William Alfond and Joan Alfond; and financial literacy leader John Rogers.

Bates College is also holding its commencement on Sunday.

Honorees include biochemist and commencement speaker Jennifer Doudna; quadruple amputee and advocate for injured veterans, Travis Mills; and technology entrepreneur Megan Smith.
