ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) - St. George police say they suspect the deaths of two siblings in their late 60s were a murder-suicide.

Officer Tiffany Atkin says that’s an assumption because no note was found following the deaths of 67-year-old Shandra Lee Brownstein and 68-year-old Stanley Thomas McCausland in their shared apartment where Brownstein’s dog also was found dead.

Atkin says authorities believe the two had been dead for about a week before their bodies were discovered May 9 during a welfare check.

According to Atkin, both siblings had health problems and that investigators believe McCausland killed his sister and her dog and then himself.
